Acceptable Use Policy

This Acceptable Use Policy ("AUP") governs use of the Masklabs proxy network and forms part of our Terms of Service. Capitalized terms have the meanings given in the Terms. Proxy infrastructure is a shared resource: the IP network, and our standing with the upstream networks behind it, depend on the responsible use of the Services by every customer. Because conduct that endangers that shared resource harms every other customer, this policy is enforced strictly.

1. Permitted Uses

Masklabs is intended for lawful data-gathering and testing activities. Common examples include:

  • Market research and competitive price monitoring
  • Ad verification and ad-fraud detection
  • Price comparison and e-commerce catalog monitoring
  • Search-rank and SEO monitoring
  • Mobile and web application testing across geographies and network conditions

This list is not exhaustive. Use that is lawful, respects the target's ability to serve legitimate traffic, and does not fall within Section 2 is ordinarily permitted. Masklabs may also require verification under Section 4 of the Terms before permitting access to sensitive categories of destinations.

2. Prohibited Uses

You may not use the Services, and may not permit anyone using your Credentials to use the Services, for any of the following:

  1. Committing or facilitating fraud of any kind, including payment fraud, ad fraud beyond legitimate verification, and click fraud.
  2. Conducting credential stuffing, account-takeover attempts, or any brute-force or automated login abuse against third-party services.
  3. Accessing, producing, storing, or distributing child sexual abuse material, or any other content that is unlawful under applicable law.
  4. Sending spam or unsolicited bulk communications of any kind.
  5. Distributing malware, ransomware, or phishing content, or operating command-and-control, botnet, or similar malicious traffic.
  6. Generating denial-of-service (DoS or DDoS) traffic, or otherwise attacking, overwhelming, or degrading a third party's infrastructure.
  7. Gaining or attempting to gain unauthorized access to any system, account, or network, whether by hacking, exploiting vulnerabilities, or circumventing access controls you are not entitled to circumvent.
  8. Infringing or misappropriating intellectual property, or collecting or using personal data in violation of applicable privacy or data-protection law.
  9. Impersonating any person or entity, or misrepresenting the origin of your traffic to deceive others, including by generating fake accounts, engagement, reviews, or votes.
  10. Harassing, stalking, threatening, or intimidating any individual.
  11. Evading a suspension, block, or ban imposed by a third party with the intent to harass, defraud, or otherwise abuse that party or its users.
  12. Circumventing technical measures, rate limits, or purchase limits, including automated or "bot" purchasing, where doing so violates the law (such as the BOTS Act) or the target's terms of service.
  13. Accessing or scraping content in any manner that is unlawful in the jurisdiction of the target, of the user, or of Masklabs, or that assists another person in circumventing criminal law.
  14. Violating applicable sanctions or export-control laws, including accessing the Services from, or routing traffic to or on behalf of, sanctioned countries, entities, or individuals.
  15. Interfering with, probing, or attempting to circumvent the Services' usage accounting, security, or access controls, or publicly sharing or exposing your Credentials.
  16. Reselling or sublicensing Masklabs Credentials or access, including for the operation of a competing proxy service, without our written agreement.

3. Enforcement

3.1 Monitoring. Masklabs does not inspect the content of your proxied traffic in the ordinary course. We rely on aggregate and bandwidth-level signals, such as usage volume, connection patterns, Credential behavior, and abuse reports from upstream providers or third parties, to identify likely violations.

3.2 Enforcement action. Where Masklabs reasonably believes your Organization has violated this AUP, we may suspend or disable the affected Credentials or your Organization's access in its entirety, without notice, pending investigation. A confirmed violation may result in permanent termination. Suspension or termination for a violation of this AUP does not entitle you to a refund of any remaining Balance (see Terms of Service, Section 8.3).

3.3 Cooperation with authorities. Masklabs cooperates with valid legal requests from law enforcement and regulators and may preserve or disclose account and usage records where required by law or to protect the rights, property, or safety of Masklabs, our customers, or the public. Where not prohibited from doing so, we may also report activity we reasonably believe to be unlawful.

3.4 Reporting abuse. If you believe someone is misusing Masklabs, or you have a copyright or other intellectual-property complaint concerning traffic routed through the network, write to [email protected] with as much detail as possible, including the source, the target, the timing, and the basis for your complaint. Every report is reviewed.

4. Changes to This Policy

We may update this AUP. Where a change is material, we will post the updated policy with a new effective date.
